Cartoonist Prageeth Eknaligoda kidnapped!

Cartoonist and journalist, Prageeth Eknaligoda, was reportedly kidnapped days before the Sri Lankan presidential elections on 26 January 2010 and has not been seen since. This disappearance was just one of several incidents targeting independent or critical media workers in the run-up to the elections. According to the Cartoonists Rights Network, Eknaligoda had created work that was sympathetic to the opposition candidate’s position.Reporters Without Borders states that Eknaligoda had noticed he was being followed for the three days preceding his disappearance. He had previously been kidnapped in August 2009.

إختطاف رسام الكاريكاتير والصحافي براجيث إكناليجودا قبل أيام من إنتخابات الرئاسة السريلانكية، و لم يره أحد منذ ذلك الحين. هذا الإختفاء هو واحد من عدة حوادث إستهدافت العاملين في الصحافة والإعلام في الفترة التي تسبق الإنتخابات مباشرة. وفقا لشبكة حقوق رسامي الكاريكاتير الدولية، فإن براجيث كان يناصر ويدعم مرشح المعارضة في إنتخابات الرئاسة الجاؤية في سيريلانكا في الوقت الحالي. مراسلون بلا حدود لاحظت أن عمليات الخطف أتبعت في الأيام الثلاثة السابقة لإختفائه. سبق لبراجيث وأن أَختطف في أغسطس 2009.

Also I would like to mention that Sri Lankan cartoonist Prageeth Eklinagoda is missing and we fear the worst. He has been gone for almost 2 weeks and he is a diabetic and heart patient. The government is doing really nothing. He had been abducted once before and released.
